There’s just something special about having so many different goodies on one plate that satisfies all our taste buds—sour, sweet, and spicy! The only downside? You usually have to head out to enjoy it, and let’s be honest, whipping up that variety at home can feel like a big task. But don’t fret!
Today, I’m excited to share some easy recipes for all the amazing dishes that make up a thali, so you can bring that experience right to your dining table.

1. Hing Aalu Ki Sabji-
Hing Aalu sabji is absolutely delicious and super simple to make! If you’re heading out on a trip, it’s a great idea to pack this dish along with some Pudi or Paratha. You won’t have to worry about any spills and trust me, it tastes amazing!

Cook time- 15 minutes
Ingredient list- 3 medium-sized Aalu
2 green chilli
3-4 garlic cloves
2 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon cumin seed (Jeera)
1 tablespoon mustard seed (Rai)
½ tablespoon asafetida (Hing)
1 tablespoon red chilli powder (laal mirchi powder)
½ tablespoon turmeric powder (Haldi)
1 tablespoon coriander powder (Dhaniya powder)
½ tablespoon garam masala
Salt as per taste
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions-
- First, grab 2 potatoes (Aalu) and wash them really well.
- Once they’re clean, cut them into small cubes.
- Next, take 2 green chillies—feel free to chop them up finely or just slit them down the middle if you prefer.
- Lastly, take 3-4 garlic cloves and either chop them into pieces or give them a good crush.
- Now turn on the gas and heat a pan with 2 tablespoons of oil.
- Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and hing, and sauté briefly.
- After sautéing, incorporate green chillies or garlic, cooking until they lose their raw smell.
- Next, add some spices such as red chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder, salt, and garam masala. ( According to the measurements provided above)
- After mixing the spices well, add cubed or finely chopped aalu (you can also use boiled aalu) and cook until they are soft.
- Once everything is cooked, finish by adding freshly chopped coriander leaves. This dish can be served with pudi or paratha.
2. Butter paneer masala-
Butter Paneer Masala is not only super tasty, but it also sounds delightful! Unfortunately, a lot of recipes out there are so complicated that it can feel intimidating to make them at home. But guess what? I’ve got a fun and easy recipe for Paneer Butter Masala that you’re going to love—both cooking it and eating it!

Ingredient list- 100gpaneer
10 garlic cloves
7-8 dry chilli
2 tomatoes
1 tablespoon ginger
10 cashews
1 glass of milk
2 tablespoon oil/butter
1 large onion
½ tablespoon coriander powder (Dhaniya powder)
½ tablespoon roasted cumin powder (Jeera powder)
½ tablespoon black pepper (kali mirch)
½ tablespoon garam masala
¼ tablespoon sugar
Salt as per taste
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions-
- First, prepare a paste using garlic, dry red chillies, ginger, tomato, milk-soaked cashews, and salt. Blend these ingredients in a mixer or crusher.
- Next, cut the paneer into cube-sized pieces and chop the onion.
- Turn on the gas and place a pan on the stovetop. Add oil or butter to the pan and heat it.
- Once the oil is hot, add the chopped onions and sauté them until they turn golden brown.
- Then, add the prepared paste to the pan and cook it well.
- Gradually add milk to the mixture, stirring continuously to create a smooth puree.
- Now, add coriander powder, cumin seed powder, garam masala, black pepper, salt and sugar to the puree, mixing everything thoroughly. (According to the measurements provided above)
- After the spices are well incorporated, gently add the paneer cubes and mix them in.
- Finally, garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with roti, paratha and rice. Enjoy your meal!
3. Mix Dal-
Mixed dal is not only super easy to whip up, but it’s also delicious! It packs all the nutrients your body needs into one tasty dish, and I just love how flavorful it is. Plus, you can make it in just one pot, which means less cleanup! It’s perfect for those living in a hostel or anyone cooking for themselves. Give it a try—you won’t be disappointed!

Ingredient list- 1 bowl of all types of dal available
2 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon cumin seed (Jeera)
¼ tablespoon asafetida (Hing)
4-5 garlic cloves
2 green chilli
½ tablespoon grated ginger
2 medium-sized onions
2 medium size tomatoes
1 tablespoon red chilli powder (laal mirchi powder)
½ tablespoon turmeric powder (Haldi)
1 tablespoon coriander powder (Dhaniya powder)
Salt as per taste

Instructions-
- First, we will wash all the dal thoroughly and set them aside.
- Next, we will chop the tomatoes, onions, ginger, garlic, and green chillies into small pieces.
- Now, we will turn on the gas and place a cooker on it.
- Next, we will heat some oil in a pan. Once the oil is warm, we will add the cumin seeds and hing briefly.
- Then, we will add the chopped ginger, garlic, and green chillies, and sauté them until fragrant.
- After that, we will add the chopped onions and tomatoes and continue to cook until they are well-roasted.
- Then, we will incorporate some spices, such as red chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and salt. ( According to the measurements provided above)
- Once these ingredients are well mixed and cooked, we will add the washed dal to the mixture, ensuring everything is combined well.
- Next, we will add approximately two glasses of water, depending on the desired consistency of the gravy.
- We will cover the cooker with a lid and allow it to whistle for 5-6 whistles.
- Once everything is cooked thoroughly, we will transfer the dish to a serving plate and serve it hot.
4. Paneer pulao-
Paneer pulao is such a tasty and satisfying dish! It’s packed with protein and perfect for those who want to up their protein intake while enjoying the comforting goodness of rice. - Next, turn on the gas and place a pan on the stove.
- Pour some oil into the pan and heat it.
- Once the oil is hot, add a pinch of hing (asafoetida) and cumin seeds, allowing them to sauté for a moment.
- Now, add the chopped vegetables to the pan and cook them thoroughly.
- Next, incorporate spices such as red chilli powder (laal mirch), coriander powder (dhania), garam masala, and salt. ( According to the measurements provided above)
- Mix the spices well with the vegetables.
- Once the spices are evenly combined, add the paneer and coat it properly with the mixture.
- Finally, stir in the cooked rice and ensure everything is well blended.
- To finish, garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
5. Namak mirch ka paratha-
If you’re looking for a quick and delicious snack, Namak Mirchi Paratha is the way to go! It’s super easy to make, requiring just a few ingredients and minimal time. Plus, it really helps curb those cravings. Whenever you find yourself in need of a tasty bite, give this recipe a try—it won’t disappoint!

Ingredient list- 2 cup aata
2 tablespoons red chilli powder (laal mirchi powder)
1 tablespoon ajwain (Carom seed)
4 tablespoon oil

Instruction-
- First, we will make a dough by mixing some flour with water.
- Next, we’ll turn on the gas and place a tawa (griddle) on top.
- We’ll start by rolling out a piece of dough into a roti.
- Then, we will apply some oil, ajwain (carom seeds), red chilli powder, and salt to the roti, spreading the mixture evenly. (According to the measurements provided above)
- After that, we’ll roll the roti into a cylindrical shape and then again make it round as a roti.
- Now, we will place the rolled roti on the tawa and cook it, making sure to flip it until both sides are cooked well.
- To ensure the paratha becomes crispy, add some oil in between while cooking.
- This delicious dish can be enjoyed for breakfast with tea, curd, green chutney, or pickles.
6. Laapsi-
Laapsi is such a beloved sweet dish from Rajasthan! The name might sound a bit tricky, but trust me, it’s super easy to whip up. Plus, it’s a healthy treat, too! People in Rajasthan enjoy it almost every other day because it’s not only delicious but also packed with health benefits. - After the daliya is well roasted, we will pour in the jaggery water and continue to roast it.
- Once the water has completely evaporated, we can garnish it with chopped dry fruits or serve it hot.

1 large onion

5-6 dry red chillies

- First, soak some dry red chillies in hot water.
- Meanwhile, clean the mushrooms and onions thoroughly and cut them into pieces.
- Next, add the soaked red chillies, garlic, salt, and sugar to a mixer grinder or crusher to make a paste. ( According to the measurements provided above)
- Now, turn on the gas and place a pan on it.
- Add some oil and let it heat up slightly.
- Once the oil is heated, chop the onion and add it to the pan. Sauté the onions well until they are nicely fried.
- After the onions are cooked, add the prepared paste to the pan and sauté it until the mixture is well roasted.
- Then, add the cut mushrooms to the pan and mix them with the spices, frying well.
- Finally, add 2 tablespoons of water, mix everything thoroughly, remove it from the heat, and serve hot.
